Inspired by Grafitti
I have realized that graffiti is like a forest. Each work starts where it can take root…. and each image is often added to by others who are inspired to contribute to it’s meaning often simply because the space is available and has been appropriated. The original author’s intent is changed or shared or overlayed by others creating patterns and mixed esthetics.
I was initially attracted to the images in Barcelona…. They were on storefront grates that were up and out of site during the day and down and in full view at night. I loved their color intensity since they were protected during the day from fading by the sun. The graffiti in Valencia were interesting because they shared walls and inadvertently created accidental compositions by many contributing artists.
